The HBLAuBA Klosterneuburg is a branch of the Federal Council for Agriculture, Regions and Tourism of Austria in which teaching and research are closely intertwined and therefore presents itself as a perfect combination of two main sectors, the "Bundesamt" (Federal Institute, control laboratory and research) and the "Höhere Bundeslehranstalt" (Federal College, a higher college for viticulture and pomiculture). The Federal College was established in 1860. The current number of students in 2020/2021 is 180. The number of employees, including the Research Institute, is around 150 full-time and part-time employees.
The area of agricultural land for training and research is about 60 ha, half of its vineyards and orchards.
The training at the Federal College offers first-class training in Viticulture and Pomiculture and consists of 3 areas:
• General training, eg mathematics, languages, history;
• Vocational training, eg viticulture, pomiculture, wine technology, fruit and vegetable processing, wine chemistry, microbiology and hygiene, protection of plants and crops;
• Training in economics, eg control, marketing, law, economics, social competence, informatics, rhetoric. Additional training is offered in beekeeping, wine presentation (young sommelier), Spanish, digitization, driving license for tractors and forklifts, sport and others
The Institute of Research is made up of 3 farms (Agneshof/vineyards, Haschhof/fruit, Götzhof vine) and two units processing (warehouse, fruit and vegetable processing) with modern equipment for research and
teaching.
